United Press Association —Per Biectrio Telegraph—Copyright. Received 12.18 a.m., February 22nd. MELBOURNE, February 21. Mr Sydney Smith, New South. Wales, moved the "adjournment of the Federal House, to complain of the delay in selecting a site for the Federal capital and the Government arrangements ior the senatorial inspection of sites which is now proceeding. The discussion occupied the whole sitting, the complaints chiefly coming from the New South Wales members, who charged the Ministry with hurrying senators in regard to some sites and showing favouritism in others. Mr Reid characterised the tour as a "gross job," and had to withdraw the words. Mr Joseph Cook protested at the aggressiveness of the "Victorians, who threatened the bond which had been made with New South Wales. Sir W. Lyne defended the Government, and denied the charges of favouritism. Mr Barton deprecated the attacks. He did not believe that any member would do arivthine to injure the rights of New South Wales in regard to the capital. The motion for adjournment was negatived.
