United Press Association—Per Electric Telegraph—Copyright Received 10.24 a.m., February Bth. MELBOURNE, February 8. The Premier of Tasmania has suggested to Mr Barton that a conference should be held between the Commonwealth and the States Government to settle a number of matters, including the Tasmanian, New Zealand and Pacific cables. Mr Barton consults the Cabinet on the matter. Pending the receipt of the tariff from the Lower House, the Senate has adjourned for a fortnight. A party of senators are to view during the period 13 sites in New South Wales for the Federal capital. The Commonwealth revenue through the Customs, if based on the past three months, will yield over £10,000,000.
