INVERCARGILL, January. 22. At the first day of the Gore races rain fell all the afternoon. The attendance was fair, and the totalisator put through £2486 as against £2BBB for the meeting last year. The club did not adopt payment on the second horse. Results: CROYDON HANDlCAP.—Eidelweiss 1, First Light 2. The only starters. Dividend. £2. SELLING HANDlCAP.—Stimulant 1, Silverine 2. Letty Parole also ran. Dividend, £2 lis. GORE CUP.—Fulmen 1, Vandyke 2, Peerage 3. Red Banner was scratched. Won on the post. Dividend, £2 2s. HANDICAP HURDLES.—The Earl 1. Blackpool 2, Van Toon 3.
