CLEARING SALE AT GERALDINE
Sesterday the Canterbury Farmers' Cooperative Association (per Messrs J. MundeH and G. R. M. Jones, auctioneers), report holding a most successful clearing sale oil account of the administratrix in the estate of the late P. H. McShane, of Geraldine Flat. There was a very good attendance of buyers from all round tie district. Everything offered sold readily. The land .was the first submitted to auction, and was sold in two lots. The first consisted of the goodwill of the Education Reserve, containmg 486 acres together with improvements thereon; the lease having 18 months to ran. This started at £375 and by £5 and 10s bids quickly rose to £620, at which figure Mrs McShane became the purchaser. The next lot submitted was 234 acres cf freetold situated 3£ miles from OrarL This "started at £lB, and fell to the bid of Mr A. Lysaght at £l9 10s per acre. The farm bones were a real good lot, and sold as follows :'—£2l, £22, £27, £3llos, £36, £45, £53 10s, and £l7 was got for a draught colt. In sheep, two, four and sixtooth ewes brought 16s sd; full-mouthed ewes, 10s 10d; three-quarter-bred lambs, •13s 9d; cull lambs, 8s Id; two, four and six-tooth wethers and maiden ewes, 13s 2d. The cattle consisted of 47 head, well bred, and were in the pink of condition. Cows in profit brought £5, £5 10s, £6, £6 ss, £6 15s to £7; dry cows, £4, £4 7s 6d to £6 3s 6d; two and three-year-old steers and heifers, £6 lis ; three-year-old heifer,£6 sa; one-and-a-half to two-year-old heifers, 354 7s 6d; calves, £1 14s. In pigs, baconers sold at £ll7s, £ll9s to £2. Harness and implements, of which 235 lots were submitted, were keenly competed for, and all sold at full rates.
