The gold returns for the Auckland district for the four weeks ending to-day laached a total value of £53,408, which exceeds the total representing the March yield by £7292. The return shows an increase of £14,318 compared with the corresponding period of 1900. NELSON, May 9. The Goldsn Blocks mine, Collingwood, • crushed 198 tons during the month for 2060z of melted gold. GREYMOUTH, May 9. The Grey river tables are looking very jcvell, though the dredge has not touched, bottom all Ihe week. Ford's Creek is looking up though the river is running high and prevents the dredge going to a sufficient depth. Still, 18oz or 200z t are expected for the week. HOKITTKA, May 9. The plant of the Waimumu-Stafiord 2redge is inow on its way from Dunedin, and is expected to be erected and at work in about four months. GlEam's Gully tunnel is well forward. It has been driven about 5770 feet, and there are 400 feet yet to complete. When opened, if gold is struck, it will bring a large population to the district. The miners have a large supply of iffater, and the Wheel of Fortune sluicing blaim is hard afi work. This is an English syndicate. 'John Cameron is the successful tenderer Jor the cartage of coal from the railway Station to Perry's Reward. The quantity required is about 50 tons per month. DUNEDIN, May 9.
