GEBALDINE SALE. There was a good attendance at the live stock sale at the Geraldine Farmers' Yards yesterday, but the entry of live stock was small. A line of three-quarter-bred'lambs brought 7s 6d- Steers and heifers sold up to £5 ; cows in profit, £6 ss; cows in calf, £4 ss; a two-year-old colt sold at £l2 6s. WOOL AND SKIN SALE. 'At the usual fortnightly sale of wool and skins, held yesterday, the catalogues were good; competition spirited, and prices well on a level with recent sales. The attendance of buyers from north and south was good, and a capital clearance was made. At Addington to-day there were small -entries of sheep of all classes, but cattle and pigs came forward in large numbers. Cattle.—22l fat cattle were yarded, including a fair proportion of good steers and heifers. The market was a little irregular, but prime sorts held their own. Others were a little easier. Extra prime beef, 22s per lOOlbs.; good, 20s to 21s 6d; other, 17s to 19s. Best steers brought £8 to £lO 7s 6d, lighter £5 17s 6d to £7 10s, best heifers £7 10s to £8 12s 6d, lighter £5 5s to £7, prime cows £6 15s to £B, others £4 15s to £6. Over 300 store cattle were yarded, including lines from Nelson. Prices were easier. Three-year-old steers were passed at £6 10s, and sold at £5 15s. Two-year-old steers sold at £3 7s; three-year-old heifers, £3 lis to £3 16s; two-year-old do., £3 5s to £3 7s; 18-months-old cattle, £1 Us to £ll4s. Sheep. Under 2000 fat sheep were penned, mostly prime ewes, with a few lines of wethers. The short- supply caused a brisk sale, and improved prices for ewes. Good wethers brought 16s to 19s 6d, others 14s Id to 15s 6d, extra prime ewes 17s 6d to 19s, good 14s to 17s, inferior lis 6d \o 13s 66% merino wethers 10s 3d to 10s lid. 660 fat lambs were penned, all of poor quality. 'There was a good sale considering the scarcity of good stuff. Freezers brought 13s to 14s lOd, small lots of butchers' 10s 9d to 13s 6d. 3600 store sheep were penned, and there was a better sale, especially of lambs. Wethers brought 14s 9d to 15s Bd, 770 passed at 15s 9d, young ewes 14s 9d, aged 7s, 570 4-tooth and 6-topth passed at 13s 9d, lambs 9s 8d to 12s, aged merino ewes 5s Bd. ' Pigs-—About 500 pigs of all classes were penned. It was an over supply, a dragging sale, and ' decreased prices. Baconers fetched 35s to 455, up to 49s 6d extra prime, equal to 3£d; porkers, 24s to 32s 6d, equal to 3£d and 3|d; large stores 15s to 21s 6d, smaller 10s to 14s 6d, suckers and weaners 4s to Bs.

DUNEDIN MARKETS. DUNEDIN, May 8. Cattle.—At Bumside market,- 214 fat cattle were yarded, a fair proportion being prime. These sold -well at late rates. Other sorts had less attention. Best bullocks brought £9 to £lO 15s, good £6 to £8 15s, best cows and heifers £6 to £7 10s, an odd pen up to £9 ss, good £4 15s to £5 10s. Sheep. There being a short supply prices improved a little. This was apparent more at the beginning than towards the end of the sale. Best wethers brought 18s to 19s 3d, good 15s 6d to 17s 6d, best ewes 16s to 18s, good 13s 6d to 15s 6d. 400 lambs were penned. Competition lacked spirit. Best brought 10s 6d to 13s 3d, others 7s 6d to lOfc Pigs-—lls pigs were yarded. Baconers were in demand and sold well, and others fairly. Suckers fetched 5s to 9s, slips lis. to 14s, stores 17s to 21s, porkers 23s to 30s, light baconers 32s to 375, heavy 43s to 48s, a few big pigs up to 60s. Wheat.—There is fair demand for prime samples, which may be quoted at 2s 6d to 2s 6id, medium quality 2s 3d to 2s sd, whole fowl-feed 2s Id to 2s l£d; sacks in. Oats.—A fair business is being done in good shipping lines at Is 3£d to Is 4d, medium Is 2d to Is 3d. Sutherlands and prime milling are slow of sale at Is 4£d to Is sd; sacks extra. Barley.—There is a moderate demand for prime malting "up to 3s 3d for Lakes grown, but slow sale for medium at 2s 4d to 2s 6d; feed and milling Is 4d to Is 6d.
