THE JACKSONVILLE FIRE. NEW YORK, May 5.

The Jacksonville fire destroyed 148 blocks of buildings, covering an area, two milea long, and thirteen blocks wide, including churches, the gaol, and many business offices. The damage is estimated at 15,000,000 dollars. Seven; persons lost their lives, and 12,000 are homeless. The fire originated through a defective electric light wire falling on a shredding machine in a fibre manufactory. AMERICAN CROP PROSPECTS.— BUSINESS GAMBLING.
