PAREORA WESLEYAN CHURCH.

The 31st anniversary of the Wesleyan Church, Pareora, was celebrated last evenlng by a tea and public meeting in the public schoolroom. " The evening was beautifully fine and there was a large attendance. The tables were provisioned and presided over by the ladies of the district, and the good things provided were highly appreciated. After all had done justice to the capital tea, the tables were cleared and the public meeting held, the Rev.. J. N. Buttle presiding. After devotional exercises the chairman delivered an interesting address, and then the financial report was read by Mr James Chamberlain, showing a credit balance of £4 16s 'di. This was followed by highly appreciative addresses by the Rev. R. Mackie (Presbyterian) acd the Rev. W. Tinsley (Wesleyan minister, Temuka). The choir rendered several anthems in a very pleasing 11 sinner, Mr Herbert Chivers acting as conductor, and Miss Campbell presiding at the organ. On the motion of Mr T. Priest a vote of thanks was \>;>ssed to the ladies for so kindly providing refreshments, and to the choir for their good music; also thanks to the speakers .nd to all who had assisted to make the evening so pleasurable and interesting.
