The House of Commons by 310 Totes to 202 votes rejected the Bill of the London and North-western Railway Company as. the company had heretofore failed to rehouse the displaced working population. Mr Ritchie, who did not support the rejection, offered to agree to "the appointment of a select committee to consider the general question of rehousing the dis: placed working people in the future.
