-THE HOME MARKETS. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report':—" Th» fallow market is strong. The Bank of England rata of discount for three months bills is 5 per cent."—London, January 3rd. THE PRODUCE MARKETS. The holidays interfered a good deal with business, but now that things have once more settled down, the usual dullness characterises the market The demand is so limited that there is no change in prices. We repeat these as follows: In wheat, Tuscan is quoted at 2s 2d to 2s 3d, velvet- 2s 2d to 2s 2£d, and red chaff at 2b 2d per bushel, f.o.b. The all round quotation for oats is is 5d to Is sjd per bushel, f.0.b., Timaru^. TIMARU WOOL SALES: The second sale of the season commenced in tie Theatre Royal on Thursday night at 7 pjn., and was continued till 10.15 p.m.; all lots of two bales, and over being then offered. The sale of the star lots was - and concluded *~~afc noon. There was a - full attendance of. buyers, some-seventeen in all operating, and the sale wasa very brisk one. Prices i obtained were-above those ruling at pre* yiaus sale by about «|d to Id on half-bred and merino, id to £d on three-quarter-: , breds-. coarse crossbred did not show any improvement .Seven catalogues-, were sub- "'"- . mitted, viz.'-: Canterbury" Farmers' , Co-operative Association v „ 1798 - • Guinness,and LeCren'...... Total bales .". 5861 A pleasing feature of the sale .was the small quantity ; passed in. Timaru, Oamaru, and Kaiapoi Woollen Factories purchased freely. Prices obtained at this sale were:—Half-bred super., 7£dto B£d; ""do. medium, 6d to 7sd; three-quarter-bred, sdto 6j'd; crossbred, medium to fine, s£d to. 6d; do: coarse, 4£d to sid; merino super., 7£d to medium, 6d to'7Jd; pieces to 7id; crossbred and halfbred pieces and bellies, 3d to sd; locks, 2d to 3d.
