RAINFALL RECORDS.

The following are rainfall reeords received for December: — i. Wfcft dssa.. Inches. Fairlie, Mr Gillingham ... Strathallan, Messrs LeCren 111 1.97 Orari. Gorge, Mr B. Messrs LeCren Brothers regprt that the heaviest falls at Strathallan were on the 7th December and 24th Dcuebtber, .44in and .42in respectively -Mr D. H. Gillingham, Lawbreek, Fairlie,' reports the rainfall fop* December at 1.20 inches; the heaviest falUj.,34 on Christmas Day. In Decemberr last year the fall was 2.26 inches, the mast on one day being. .52 inches. During*the month just closed rain fell upon 11 dpys. The total fall for 1900 was 28.19 incurs, on 137 days, the wettest 1 month being October, with 8.08 inches. In 1899 the fall was 27.23 inches on 118 days,, the. wettest month being March, with 4.<18 inches. The average anrin.il fall for the last seven years was 26.39 inches, 18955 teeing the wettest, with 30.59 Inches, the driest, with 19.56 inches. 'Mr .adds, that though rain fell npoJuBS? days last year,, there were 36 upon which the fall .'.was less than ;. also that- it may notbegenerally- known -that'the fall has to be registered'at 9.30, a.m., so that if a little rain fails.; during the..hour between 9 and 10 it counts as rain upon two days...
