The first tennis match of the season was played on the Waitohi courts at Mr Orr's farm on Saturday afternoon between team: representing the home club and the Timari Club. The weather up to 6.30 p.m., wher a light shower began to fall, was all thai could be wished, and as a result the outinf was a most, pleasant one. Mis Orr enter tamed the visiting team at luncheon ar.c tea, and the ladies of the club invited play ers and spectators, of whom there were i good many present, to afternoon tea. Ii the course of the day, the best ;ennis e»e; seen on the courts was witnes*sd. md ap plause was very hearty at the close of i good rally, or any other particularly excel lent exhibition of the game. before Icj-v ing for home m the evening, Mr Cameron on behalf of the visitors, returned thank to Mr and Mrs Orr and to the ladiss of tb Waitohi Club for the very hospitaole to m which they had been enteriainod.
