THE CITY RIFLES.

The annual general meeting of the City Eifle Volunteer corps was held m the lecture room, Drillshed, on Tuesday. Captain Gillies occupied the chair, and 51 members of the corps were present. The annual statement of accounts showed that a substantial amount had been paid off Uniform debfc, and although the corps is not out of debt, enthusiasm was never greater, and the present volunteer year started with a full membership. The officer commanding referred to the work done during the past year, the success of the sections tournament, the monthly socials, and the l>unedin team's meritorious position m the colonial military tournament. (Japtain Gillies intimated that he had decided to uniform the City m khaki, as the corps was going very strong and would be able to pay off substantial amounts each year off their uniform debt. Gratification was expressed that , four members of the company had sailed for .Africa for active service, and it was hoped another would be chosen. Sergeant Boys resigned the secretaryship after six years' service, and Sergeant Brown was unanimously elected to the position. The following positions were filled: —Treasurer, Captain Gillies; storemen, Private Henary and "Corporal Stevenson; finance committee, officers and Sergeants Green and Brown ; general and concerts committee—Corporals Whitton, Stevenson and North, Privates Craigie, Robertson and Walker ; auditors— Privates Clinch and Scaly. Sergeant Boys was appointed sole handicapper for the shooting. It was unanimously reeolved to vote Private Hendry a small sum for the valuable services he had rendered to the corps as storeman. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the various donors of prizes. A strong committee was formed to take charge of orderly room and provide suitable amusements for the members.
