Per Press Association. OHRISTCHURCH, June 14. CATTLE. Included m the 221 head of fat cattle were a few extra good lines. One bullock sold at £14, 15 head of local bullocks at £8 15s to £11 103, and 20 from the North Island at £9 2s 6d to £10. The rest were only ordinary light to handy weight cattle, and only for prime sorts were last week's rates maintained. Ordinary steers sold at £5 5s to £7 2s6d, heifers £4 5s to £5 lbs, and cows £3 10d to £5 7s 6d. A good line of 80 five and six-year-old bullocks from Pelorous Sound, m the store pens, sold privately with many other lotß at £5 29 6d. At auction 2± to 3-year Bteers brought £4 7s 6d, heifers £3 155, and yearlings from 20s to 30a. ! SHEEP. The unsatisfactory cables from Home and the fact that one factory was shutting down and the other is blocked for want of shipping space, made export buyers disinclined to operate, and what freezing sheep sold suffered a drop of Is to Is 6d per head, while many lots were withdrawn. Butchers' sheep were also easier, there being too many m for the trade. Freezers sold at from 16a to 19s, best butchers' ewes 13s to 15s Id, and others down to 9s. Prime freezing lambs were as eagerly sought after aB ever, and sold well up. to late rates if not better, from 14s to 19s Id, but other sorts were easier from 10s 3d to 13s. Store sheep of all kinds were a regular drug. Holders declining to accent a reduction and buyers refusing to give late prices caused very little business to be done. PIGS. The small entry of fat pigs caused j matters to be a - little firmer, bacon ers selling nt over 4d per Ib, and porkers 4£d tosd. Per head baconers Bold at 40s to 68a, porkers 30s to 455, stores 25s to 355, and weaners 14b to 15s 6d.
