Shortly after midnight this morning the Commercial Hotel, Mossburn, was destroyed by fire together with the stable. The latter was owned by Mr W. Beer. Mr Milne, the licensee, discovered the fire outside near where a case of empty bottles had been standing. He got all the inmates out, his wife and family m their night clothes only. He lost cash and watches besides the whole contents of the house. The insurance on the hotel is not known, but the contents were covered for £150 m the Imperial office. The stable was insured for £25 m the Royal Exchange.
