ST. MARY'S SUNDAY SCHOOL
SANDFETOWN. . On Monday evening prizes were pre sented at St. Mary's Sunday School Sandietown. The Rev; J. M. Whitehea( presided, and after saying a few words t< the assembled parents about the school called on Major Bamfield to present th< prizes. The Major spoke ,a few f k'indli words to the children, and thea jumowti «nr -i>«iteon__to HUccessf ul ones This school has recently been inspected by the Diocesan Inspector, and passec on the whole a creditable examination the percentage of passes being 46*3. The following,, based on the inspector's report, is the report of the Diocesac Education Committee on the school :— "Most iP.^the work done by the scholarf m this school reaches a fair average level. A good proportion of the scholars, however, either from immature age oi other Tack of fitness are recommended to try the same standard for an: other year, under the new syllabus. The accommodation is barely such, as would favour excellent work, and the proportion of Sunday scholars m the district is rather low." During the evening the children sang a number of glees ; there were also three duets, two with choruses. They. were very well sung by Mina and James Latimer, Cinsy Glue and Mary Latimer, and Mary Dunn And George Williams. Great, praise is due to Miss Gardner and Miss Mcc for the admirable way m which they had trained them* Three or four of the children also recited. The following is the prize list:— Standard VI. — Mina Latimer, Cissy Glue, Mary Latimer, Helen Campbell. Standard V.— Eric Fraser, Standard IV. — George Williams, Mary Dunn, Daisy Hall, Beryl Dunsford, Rhoda Brassell, (ieorge Glue, Carrie Darby, Cissy Haeselburg. Standard lll.— Albert Chesterman, Cissy Palliser, Gertrude Lucas. Standard II. — MaggiePallißPr. Ptandardl.— Elvina Dunn, Gertrude Darby. Infants —Arthur Brassell, Willie Palliser, Mark Williams, Caleb Dunn, Albert Glue, Rose V eat man. Choir— Mina Latimer, Rhoda Brassell, Gertrude Lucas, George Williams. A special prize presented by Mrs Luxmorefor the teacher who attended the most regularly was won by Miss Shrimpton.
