payment for large and small coal, weighed separately. The basis of the agreement is for all the southern collieries. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, December 13. The Conciliation Board to-day filed their recommendations m connection with the industrial dispute between the Furniture Trade Union and thirty eight employers. The clauses agreed to referred to the hours (44) for a week's work, to holidays, overtime, apprentices, apprentices' wages, and the preference of union members. Clause two was amended to read that the minimum wage of cabinet makers shall be 10s a day, and upholsterers, turners, framemakers, and polishers, 8s 6d ; mattress makers 7s 6d. For. clause Sis substituted— "No piece work shall be permitted." A clause was added providing for men who cannot earn a minimum wage being paid a lesser sum, to be fixed by acotnmitee or by thfi chairman of the Conciliation Board if the committee cannot agree. The recommendations are to come into force on January Ist, 1899, and remain m operation until November 30th, 1901.
