m The Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association, limited, report under date, Timaru, April 30th, 1898, as follows :— Wheat.— So far little or no activity has been shown in the New Zealand markets, although Australian markets have risen to such an extent aB to prohibit further importation unless local values improve conaiderably. A few sales have been effected at the following prices :— Red chaff 4s ld to 4s 2d, tuacan and velvet 4s 4d to 4s sd, ex store, Timaru. Oats remain firm, and we hear of large purchases in Invercargill for Canterbury. Local values are 2s 2d to 2s 3d, on trucks Timaru, for Danish, 2s 3d to 2a 4d for Duns and good short oats. Barley, — There are no sales to report, and prices remain at last week's quotations. Potatoes — Enquiry for forward delivery continues firm and prices have hardened, buyers now offering 60s to 62s 6d, at close country stations.
