TIMARU FLORAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the committee was held on Wednesday evening. Present — Messrs Mair (voted to the chair), Crosbie, Morgan, Knowles, Smith and: McQueen. Apologies were accepted from Messrs Holdgate, Orwin and Beswick. The meeting unanimously passed a resolution placing on record its deepest sympathy with the family of their late president, Mr Arthur Perry, m their bereavement at his death-, and assuring them that his loss would be greatly felt. It was remarked that the deceased gentleman had accepted the appointment of president at theinauguration of the society m 1871, and had been re-elected to and retained that office till his death ; that he not only exhibited his choicest flowers at the annual shows, but m addition forwarded his very valuable pot plants, thus adding greatly to the beauty of the exhibitions. Mr Perry, also, had assisted liberally financially, and as long as the society continued his name would continue to. be remembered and associated with it. — It was reported that the Timaru Students' Band would perform a splendid programme on the night of the exhibition, Mr R. Wood being musical director and principal violin. It was resolved that j members' tickets be available only from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. It vfas reported that ' chrysanthemums were coming on won-i derfully well, and that a grand display would m all likelihood be seen. Entries are expected from exhibitors both north and south, and many enquiries are being made as to the special displays— dinner table decorations, etc.
