TIMARU FLORAL SOCIETY.

A meeting of the Committee of the Timaru Floral Society was held on Wednesday. Members present — Mr R. Orwin (chairman), Messrs Sealey, Harris, , Beswick, Crosbie, Bascand, Knowles, Lewis, McQueen and Mair, \ A letter was read from Messrs Nimmo ', and Blair, m reference to their special t prize, consenting to withdraw certain [ restrictions. On the motion of Mr Beswick, the \ society placed on record the loss sus- , tamed by the death of Mrs E. Holdgate, who had been a successful exhibitor ana ; taken much interest m the society. ! On the motion of Mr Bascand, a vote of sympathy and condolence was passed [ to the hon. secretary, for the recent bereavement m his family caused by 1 the death of his son-in-law, Mr J. 0. » Macintyre. ', The proof of the prize schedule was j finally revised. The hon. secretary (Mr E. H. Lough), was requested to acknowledge receipt of \ promised special prizes. ' The chairman m presenting the National Chrysanthemum Society's medals won by Messrs Lewis and McQueen, congratulated them upon their success, and expressed the hope that they 3 would obtain similar well merited awards r on a future occasion. 3 In returning thanks, the winnere s named promised to use their best efforts m adding to the prosperity of the society's exhibition by endeavouring tc produce similar, if possible superior, exhibits to those which had carried ofl the coveted trophies. g It was decided to commence collecting j subscriptions m October, and thai j moneys be put m the Savings Bank ii the names of trustees, A vote of thanks to the chairmar a closed the meeting. g " . !g^?
