[ 1897. ] PUBLIC NOTICE. THE EDUCATION BOARD OF THE •DISTRICT OF SOUTH CANTERBURY. ELECTION OF SCHOOL COMMITTEES. THE Board m pursuance of the power m that behalf conferred by " The Education Act, 1877," (Sec. 66) and ••The School Committees Act, 1891," hereby directs that a Public Meeting oi the Householders m every School District throughout the Education District of South Canterbury, be held on MQNDAY, 26th April, at seven o'clock m the evening, for the Election of a School Committee for such district for the yea| ending with the Fourth Monday m April next year. The number of members tc be elected to form the Committee is at follows : — " Where the average attend ance of any school or schools under th( Committee of a District has not for th( last preceding school year exceeded twenty-five children, Five Members where the average has exceeded twenty five and has not exceeded two hundred Seven Members; and where the aver age has exceeded two hundred, Nin< Members." The place of meeting shall be tin Schoolhouse m each District.
