HEAVY FLOODS.
.. , O : (By Telegraph.) GISBORNE, March 29. Heavy rains have put the rivers m high flood. The Waipao overflowed its banks at Pouparae and Ormond, but not much damage was done. At Nelson's freezing works the dam carried away. The fresh m the rivers prevented the steamers Te Anau and Dingadee being tendered last evening, and they were detained here till this morning. • .NAPIER, March 29. Heavy rain set m on Friday night and Saturday, continuing unabated all Saturday,, and at intervals on Sunday, Reports from Pakowai, Papakua, Meanee, and other places, show that m those localities the water when the flood was ' at its highest was several feet deep, and the Tutaekuri rose three feet within two hours. On Saturday the Taupo road was blocked, and two approaches to the valley were washed away. Landslips are reportedfrom various parts of the district.
