Per Press Association* London, June 9. ! The imports during May show an increase of 618,000 and exports 861,000. Kauri gum is m fair demand. Better grades are steady and lower qualities 2s cheaper. 3190 cases were offered and 1580 sold. Three-quarter scraped realised 82s ; half scraped, 48s. There are still 1974 cases m stock. Tallow, medium mutton, 22s 6d ; beef, 21s. Wheat— The English market is strong ; the Continental shows a general decline; the American is advancing. An Adelaide cargo ex the Glenbank sold at 27s 3d. The Port Victor from Sydney lost seventeen cattle, including five which were specially dieted. The remainder arrived m good condition but they will all have to be killed at Deptford owing to the steamer calling at Malta. June 10. News from Berlin states that the announcement that the Chinese loan is guaranteed by Russia has completely surprised and outwitted the German Government. The negotiations m. regard to a loan were kept secret although it was supposed that both countries were acting m concert. Berlin, June 10.
