Timaru Herald Office, Friday Evening. Though the market is still firm, prices this week have shown a tendency to vary, and it is difficult to exactly fix values. However, quotations may be taken to be as follows :— Wheat all sorts, mixed samples, farmers' lots, 3s 4d to 3s 7d; fowl wheat, 3s to 3s 3d; milling and Danish oats, Is 4d to Is sd. Flour £9 per ton, sack basis at mills or f.o.b. m quantity ; bran, 50s to 555 ; pollard, 80s. Guinness and LeCren report holding a special sale of cattle at the Temuka saleyards yesterday, on account of the Bank of New Zealand Estates Co. There was a large attendance of the Dublic, anri hidding for each lot was spirited. Good forward cattle sold well, but those low m condition were neglected. The auctioneers succeeded m quitting 178 head at the following prices : Steers £3 2s 6d, £31256 d, £4, £4 7s6d tip to £4 17s 6d ; heifers £3, £3 ss, £3 10s, £3 12s 6d up to £3 15s. Taken as a whole the sale must be considered very satisfactory.
