ARREST FOR MURDER

(By Telegraph. ) IN\ ERCARGILL, May 9. At Winton to-day Minnie Dean, wife of Charles Dean, was arrested on a charge of having on or about the 3rd inst., murdered an infant named Eva Hornsby. She was brought before the justices and remanded to the 16th inst. to appear at Milton, Otago. The arrest was made by Detectives McGrath (Dunedin), and Herbert. Prisoner has for several years made a business of keeping infants, and was once before the court on a charge of neglecting several children under her care, but was then acquitted. The police are reticent as to the details of the present charge, but it is understood that the infant was about one month old.
