The Public Works; Committee of the City Council last night decided to instruct thetr delegates to the conference next week to support Wednesday as the half holiday. CHRISTCHURCH, Januaiy 15. The City Council instructed its delegates to the conference of local bodies to vote for Thursday as the weekly half holiday. The Lyttelton Borough Council decided upon Thursday. A meagrely attended public meeting at Linwood recommended Saturday. DUNEDIN, January 15. The city grocers have declared for Wednesday for the half-holiday. The conference of delegates from the city and suburban councils convened m terms of the Shops and Shop Assistants Act, for the settlement of a day upon which the weekly half-holiday shall be observed was held to-night It was moved that Thursday be the day selected, but an amendment 'fixing Wednesday was accepted and carried .unanimously.
