TO THB EDITOR OF THE TIMART7 HERALD Sib —Last Sunday night I noticed a female walking with her five little ones.and I fancied I saw her oasting sheep's eyes at one of her opposite tex. On Monday night I saw her trying to keep the rain off her offspring m a most motherly fashion, but next night i saw the iiUle onei, the eldest of whom cannot be more than three weeks old, unosred for m the rain, and later on discovered the mother roostiDg m the fowlhouae A. pood denl has bean said about the " new woman," »Dd the movement hag evidently made headway among domestic animals. Would our paternal Go> vernmenfc if approaohed on the sabjeot pass a Bill to the effect that hens are not to leave their chickens till the latter have arrived at weeks of dieoretion P And can any of your readers inform me how a hen dismisses her chickens P Does she oall them round and offer up a short prayer, or does she " shoo " them about til! they are afraid to come near her again P lam one who believes that a female's first duty is to her young, and there* fore I am Disgusted. .P.S.-I am giving tha old girl a weak's oonfinoment on bread and water.
