WAIMATE COUNTY COUNCIL.
The ordinary monthly meeting of the Wat mate County Council was held on Wednesday. Mr R Ul worthy presided. There were also present Councillors Cameron^ Murphy, Mor i ton, I jail, acd Manoheater, The application of Mr George Park and others, tor a crossing over tbe railway at Waitaki North, was referred to tbe jJsilway Commissioners. The overseer was direoted la report on the application of Mr Oarroll and others for a crossing over the water raoe at. Waitaki. He was also directed to report on the application of Mr J Davidson for a footbridge at Fareora. With regard to the application of Mr A Walker and others for a road line leading from btudholme to the Lake, Mr Cameron e»id that the Waimate estate bad an offer to make, and consequently nothing was done m tbe matter m the meantime. Mr Kennedy, of Waitaki, interviewed the Council concerning tbe water raoe at Waitaki, leading to his property. The water-race engineers also reported on this race.— lt was decided to try and arrange a settlement with Mr Kennedy on an equitable basis. The overseer's and water-iace inspector's reportß were read and adopted. The following tenders were accepted : — R White £26 6s, I Crone £68, M!foley£ls9 6s Bd, for contracts 247, 248, 249, respectively. Aocoucte amounting to £1264 4i 2d were passed for payment and the Council ease. The house of Lords, says a Badical paper, is acting after its kind— a kind that goeth not oat by prayer and fasting.
