ADDINGTON MARKET. (BX TBLBaBAPH.) CHRISTCHUECH. September 26. There were moderate entries at Addington market; to-day, and the attendance was good. CATTLE. The greater part of the entry that was brought under the hammer was second class quality. Prices generally remain at last week's quotations. Heifers were sold at JJS 12a 6d to £6 ss, cows £5 to .£8 10a. Dairy cows were fairly represented, but business was rather slow. Springers sold at .£3 10s to £9, dry cows £2 to £5. In store catfclo a large entry contained a fair proportion of useful aorta, but the sale was a dragging one About half the entry changed hands at last week's prices. 6HEEP. Tho fat sheop pens were well filled, the bulk being merino mutton, a good deal of which was of inferior quality. All good sorts sold well, but thore was a decided drop m second class sheep .Crossbred primo heavy weights wore quitted at 18a to 21s 6d, freezing quality 16s to 18s sd, secondary aorta 12s to 15s, best crossbred ewe 3 13a to 17s, best merino wethers 12s to 17s Id, merino ewes 5s to 10s. In fat lambs there was good competition, and the entry was disposed of at prices ranging from 9a 6d to 15s 6d. Store sheep were poorly represented, and though where sales wore made recant quotations were realised, very little business was done. PIGS. The market was again irregular and prioes ranged from 3£d to 3£d per lb for baconera and porkers.

DUNEDIN. I September 25. CATTLB. Only 62 head of fat cattle were yarded, r dly Buffloient for requirements. Biddings at the commencement were Blow, but improved somewhat as they rogressed, but on the average the pricas toay would show a drop of 1b 6d to 2s per head ompared with those of last week. Crossbred ewos m particular were very difficult to quit. Best crossbred wethers bronght 14s 9d to 16s" 9 d, a few pens extra heavy from 17s to 18s 6d, medium to good 13s to 14s 3d, light 8s 3d to 12s, best do ewes 12s to 13s 6d, light weights 8s to 12s, merino wethers 6s 6d to Us 3d. GBAIN. Wheat.— There ia nothing new to report. otner than best velvet. Any offering is readily placed at up to quotations. Fowl wheat is not over-plentiful, and although buyers could do with a good deal more are not disposed to oporate when any advance is demanded. The quantity on hand of any eorfc for sale is unimportant, and would not be anything like sufficient for requirements were it not for suplies arriving from Melbourne and Canterbury. Quotations are— For best milling velvet 2s lOd to 2fs lid, good to best do and best tuscan 2s 9d to 28 10d, good to best red wheat 2s 8d to 2s 9d, medium 2s 6d to 2s 7d, inferior to medium 2s 3d to 2s 6d, broken Is 9d to 2a 2d lex store, saoks weighed m; terms). Oats.— Whenever reasonable freights ara procurable busineea eventuates, but at the same time buyers are not prepared to oparate at any advance on the quotations of the past two weeks ; indeed the demand this week is very much less pronounced, none of the shippers showing much disposition to operate, more especially m feed sorts. Good full bright milling are saleable, but there are vary few of these offering, though the faot does not tend to harden prices. There is no speoulative mood apparent. Prime milling stout and bright are quoted at Is 5d to Is Sid, best . short bright feed Is 4{d to Is 4id, medium Is 3d to Is 4d, inferior and musty Is to Is 2Jd, black oats Is 5d to Is s|d (ex store, saoks extra; set). Barley. — There is no business of any consequence passing. Quotations are merely ominal, say, for best malting ?s 6d to 33 9d, xtra prime 4s, medium to good 3s to 3s 3d, illing 2s 3d to 2s 9d, feed Is 8d to 2s (ox tore, saoks extra).
