TEMUKA CRICKET CLUB .
The .annual meeting of the members w; . held on Wednesday evening. 'J here was a good attendance of playing members. Mr D Ferguson, the captain, wr,ote apologising for absence and expressing his disinclination to take an aotive part m club matters this season. He would attend prao! ices as often as possible however. He expressed his appreciation of Mr Gillespie's services as secretary, and of the manner m which the club bad supported him during the past lesson, Dr J S Hayes, the president, was voted to theobair. After routine bu-ineaa tbe secretary read the annual report, which showed tbat the year commenced without liabilities, and olosed with a small deficiency. 3 here were however sufficient assets m the shape of cash and materi.l to counterbalance any outstanding debt, particularly as there was a surplus of assets over liabilities of about £15. The ground 'had been kept m good order, and thanks were returnsd to Mr J T M Hoyhurat and Mr J Moynahan for tbe use of rollers, eto , and to Mr G Davey for gratuitous carting A good many matches had been played during the season, and there had been a general renewal of interest m cricket. Cordial thanks were accorded to Mosdames Olerk, E Brown, Outten and Hay hunt, and
Misser Paterson, Browp, Mendrlson and hrk f*ir supplying afternoon tea a' mutohes. and to Mr H 0 Dunn for the use of his room for meetings. Tbe balance sheet showed total receipts £«8 17s 6 J, and expenditure £10 10. lOd, leaving a oredit balanoe of £4 6i Bd. Against this is a liability of £4 17s 2d In moving the adoption of the rep >rt and b-ilanoe sheet,. Mr B Herbert m graceful terms referred to the kindness of the Geraldine Minstrels for assistance given to the finanoes, not only m giving a performance m aid of the olub, but by allowing a reb.te of £2 2s guaranteed as expenses m oonsotion with their visit. Mr Buxton seconded the motion, and the report and balance sheet wete adopted ac read. On the motion of Mr Armitage hearty votes of thanks were passed to tha retiring offioers, Twelve new members were elected The eleotion of officers resulted as follows : Patron, Mr AB G Bhodes (re eleoted); prtei* dent, DrJßHay«6 (re-elected); vice presi dents, Sir W Blunden, Beys Fathnr M»'oce, F Farley, Dickson and Staodage. Messrs John Grant, T Booney, A M Clark, E Cutten, P Wareing, J Brown, J Findlay'andJ Guild. Mr E 0 Dann was elected cap. aiu and Mr B H Low sub-captain. Mr J Gillespie was unanimously re-elected seoretary and treasurer, and Messrs B Brown, Luzford, Hawkes, MoLean and Buxton a general committee. Tbe oaptain, vioeoaptain and se.retary were appointed a matoh committee, and Messrs Buxton, MoLean and Luxford, a ground com mi; tee. Mr B Herbert was elected delegate to the South Canterbury Cricket Association. The subscription was fixed at 10s, with an allowance to membsrs of the football club, and it was agreed that the oommittee be empowered to admit a limited number of schoolboys as playing members on the recommendation of the bead master. It was resolved to formally open the ssason on Ootober 4'h with a matoh from sides ohosen on tbe ground by the oaptain and vioe-captain. The customary votes of thanks terminated the proceedings. ■
