He expressed the opinion that the new Government should let the Tariff Board complete its labours, and if possible adopt its recommendations. A difficulty, however, presents itself that three members of the Board were defeated. There is likelihood of Mr Richardson.one of the defeated Ministers, becoming chairman of the Railway Commissioners. Mr Bent's defeat makes it almost certain that Sir 6. Berry will be the new Speaker. It is understood that Sir J. Patterson will resign when routine business is cleared off.
