A rioh gold discovery has been mado near Tenterfield, 314 miles north of Sydney. A piece of atone twelve inches square waa taken from the olaim showing half a pound of gold. Slugs of five and ten ounces have been picked up m the vicinity. INCENDIARY FIRES. Bbißß__nb_ September 21. A determined effort was made last night to destroy by fire the business portion of Rookhampton. Seven incendiary fires were discovered witbin a radius of 200 yards and extinguished. In one instance the perpetrator was seen making off but i was not oaptured. ANOTHER WRECK Hobart, September 21. The steamer Devon struck on the bar while entering Macquarrie harbour, and became a total wreck. The crew and passengers were lauded safely.
