TIMARU ROWING CLUB.

♦ The annual meeting of members of the Timaru Bowing Olub was held at the Ship Hotel last evening. In the absence of the captain, who bad resigned, Mr 0 H Tripp, deputy oaptain, oooupied tho ohair, and there was a good attendance. The report and balance eheefc were road, the former being as follows : — " The boats having been thoroughly overhauled at the latter cad of last season, your oommittee did not think it neoeiaary to do anything more to them this year. At the end of last season your oommittee decided to j inorease the Club's plant, and ordered from Mr G ftorton, of Wellington, two praotise itumpa and one racing stump, which are now m shed, and should prove themselves useful for the Olub as well is giving representative | crews equal ohanoei at outside regattas. Your committee hayp alto pupohased two new sets of oars, as well ri those ordered with the now boats. The Olub were unfortunate m losing the Waihao, a stump outrigger, through a heavy sea ooming up on New I ear's Day. As seen by the accompanying balance sheet, the Olub is m a good financial position. The overdraft at the Back of New Zealand now stands at £59 5s Bd. The total membership for the season was - Life 6, honorary 13, active 65 Your oommittee have to record tho loss the Olub has sustained by fhe death of the late Mr $ T Rhodes, who had for several yeses; held th.c position of president, and who was always a valuable and enthusiastic member. Your committee regret also that Mr B Thomac (late seoretary), and Mr G W Bowron (late treasurer)^ who rendered valuable services to the club, have both left the district. The oom.mittee wish to express ihair appreciation of the services he rendered the olub, and regret his retirement. Ibe eeaion was opened on the sth October with the usual prooesiion and races during the afternoon, the ladies and fritnds of the members being provided with afternoon tea. The various club races during the season were keenly contested and very interesting b_gth. to competitors and spectators. We are pleaoC!? ta report that the seoond race with the Gtsgo Bowing Club waf .vowed on JTew Year's Day, and resulted m a win for our ores?. The Olub was represented last year at the Akairoa anfl LaJ:e Iporay th regattas, Messrs J Parr and W Johnson nianing the Junior Boulls at the latter m a boat kindly lent by the Akftroi Olub. The thanks of the Olub are due to Dr Beid and Mr W Saundera for their liberal donation towards the prise fond. The season was brought to a close by {ihe usual nO 7 4ress which wag a great suooesi. The opening day was fixed for 4th October, and it was agreed that all the boats be allowed out exoept the new ones before opening day.
