The English wheat market shows a general decline of 3d ; the Gontientel is depressed, and the American dull. A cargo of South Australian wheat, by the Earl of Gadogan, sold at 22a 6d. Australian and New Zealand white cheese is selling at 50s to 069. The Antwerp wool sales have closed, prices being firmer and competition Increased, as compared with previous Bales, especially in Monte Video wools. About 460 bales of Australian wool were sold. The Economist considers the Credit Ponder schemes of the colonies too much allied to quackery and jobbery. The colonies would be gainers if British investors refused to lend their Governments money for mortgage loans. Mr Forrest;, of Queensland, has intro* duced a new system of thawing meat, which he claims is an improvement on the old system. Keceived 10 p.m., September 17th.
