J Melbourne, September 18. The prosecution of the directors and officials of the Mercantile Bank has begun. THE VANCOUVER LINE. Brisbane, September 18 Replying to Sic T. Mcllwraith's tele- ■ gram announcing that he would aak Parliament to subsidise the Vancouver line on condition that the vesßela called at Briabane and Keppel Bay, Sir G. Dibba wired " One port or other, but not both." Mcllwraith's rejoinder was cure, " Both or none." Dibbs retaliated jin monosyllable, "None." The upshot of the difference between the two Premiers ia that the Miowara leaving Sydney today, will not cail at Briabane. The passengers and mails had to be sent to Sydney by train, and the steamer was detained till they arrived.
