AUSTRALIAN STOCK CONFERENCE.
(By Telegraph.) WELLINGTON, Oot. 25. Tho Amtralosian Stock Conference was openod today m tbe Parliamentary Buildings. Thore were present Messrs Tab.rt (chief inspector of stock m Tasmonia), Park (Government veterinary surgeon for Tasmania), Bruce (chief inspector of etook m New South Walos), Goolan (chief inspector of atook m Queensland), John Roberts and Thomas Brydono (Oi«_n). W. Bnog (Canterbury), F. Lawry M.H.b. (Auckland), J. D. Ritchie (seoretary of the New Zealand Department of Agriculture), and J. McLean (Government veterinary surgeon for New Zealand). Sir John Hall was elected ohairman. Each colony will have threa votes. Tho Conference arranged that tho following should be subjects for discuisioo :— (1) Regulations regarding Ibe introduction of foreign animals and foreign diseases, that ii", diseases not known m Auatralesia. (2) Regulations regarding tho iulroduetion of Australosian animals — (a) by sen, (b) by land. (3) Regulations regarding disease — (a) scub, (b) catarrh, (c) fluko, (d) worms, (o) foot rot, (f) onthrax, (g) pleuro-pneumonia, (h) tuberculosis, (i) stringhalt, (fc) cooardium and actinomycosis, (I) prurigo (horso mange) Queensland. (4) Rabbit pest. (5) Chilled meat trade. (6) Studbook for Auatralaoia. Later. At the Stook Conference Mr F. Tabart read a paper on " Quarantine Regulations," which will be discussed when printed. The remainder of the sitting was devoted to considering regulations for the importation of stock into the colonies. At 5 p.m. the Conference adjournod till the following day.
