Q.T., Oullmsntown, had a very successful meeting on Tuesday, the officers of the Crystal Spring Lodge paying on offioial visit. Bro. O. W. Ellis, O.T. of the Crystal Spring Lodgo presided. After the usual business refreshments were handed round by the sisters. The liodge thon went into harmony, Sister 8. McOulloufjh, and Bros. A. Williams. Guonoll, MoLachlan, Finch, and Ellis contributing thereto. A vote of thanks to tho visitors brought a very pleasant meeting to a closest 9.25 p.m. Major Steward addressed a meeting of electors m tho schoolroom, Fairlie Creek, on Tuesday, there being, notwithstanding the wet weather, an attendance of between fifty and eixty. Mr J. Milne, county chairman, was voted to the ohair and briefly opened the proceedings. At the contests recently held m Melbourne the following nationalities were represented : — Kngliob, Irioh, Scotch, Welehi Germar, French, Dnnee, Australians, Ohinose, Spaniards, New Zoalandcra, Norweigans, Maoris, and Italians. At a oommittea meeting oE the South Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club held yesterday, the following now members were elected : — Meeara W. J. Moir, E. E. Clowes and G. Strachan. A voto of thanks was passed to the ladies of South Canterbury for the handsome prize they nr» presenting to the winner of the steeplechase. Various routine business was completed with reference to the sports on Wednesday and Thursday of next week. The annual sports' ball is to be held on the evening of Thursday, the Becond day of the sports, and a committee appointed for the purpose have the arrangements m hand. To improve this, the Garrison committoe have decided to widen the range at tho butts, and eroct a couple more targets, with shelter trenchoe, and the appliances necessary for a modern range. This means a considerable outlay, and a; the amount of capitation' now granted is barely sufficient for tho ordinary expenees of the corps, tho Garrison committee have decided to hold an all-comers tu g-of-war with tbe double object of creating amusement of a popular form, and raising funds towards defraying the cost incurred m improving tho range.
