The flagstaff of Timaru is situated m lVldeg 1 7.20 mm. East longitude ; and 4-i deg 23 mm South latitude. ARRIVED. Feb. 3— Arnold, barquo, from Launceston. BAl__l>. Nil. EXPECTRD ARRIVALS. Orpheus, schooner, Smith, from Napior, daily. Bangitikei, 3bip, early. ' Ganymede, barque, from Newcastle, early The barque Ganymede left- Newcastle on Friday laat with a load of coal for Timaru. The Livorpool barqno Griffo is 9 or 10 daya ont from Brisbane, aud on arrival will load for the Canterbury Farmers' Co-operative Association. The schooner Gisborne completed. loading' yesterday for Gisborne. She ha. taken m 32 tons flour, 3 tons oatmeal and wheatmeal, 450 sacks of oats, and 70 sacks of bran and sharps. The barque Arnold was seen away to the southward about mid-day yesterday, and during tho afternoon was towed m to a berth at the buoys. She is from Launceston, and will load here on account of the New Zealand Shipping Company, m plaoe it is said of the Rangitikei, which goes on to Napior. Captain Shepherd, late of the Southern Cross, has been promoted to take chargo of the Talune. Captain Dawson, takes charge of the Southern Cross, and Captain Wheeler, who has been for a holiday, takes command of the Manaponri. Another very large sailing ship, the Lord Brassey, whioh has been built by tho Grangemouth Dockyard Company at their Alloa yard, has been put m the Australian trade. Tho vessel has four masts, and the ■ height from the waterline to the truck of the highest of these is 187 feet. As tho height of the highest span of the Forth bridge at high water is only 150 feet, it waß found necessary to lower three of tbe masts about 37 or 40 feet to allow the barque to pass underneath tho bridge.
