Oxide ana Oardoness were sent eleven furlongs, which were accomplished m 2mia 3%sec. Whimbrel strode over a mile anj a half m splendid style m 2min 45sec. Stromboli had Sir William for a companion m a strong milb and a half, which he traversed m 2mia 45f8ec; the last six furlongs occupied lmin lOisec and the Derby candidate finished like a Hon. The Tyler, Cobham, Jack, Ragamuffin, Vaughan, and Survivor ! put m good sound exercise. Carbine waa down but not worked. Correze looking big and muscular ran a strong two miles on the tan. He was backed for tha Melbourne Cup last night to win £5000 at 100 to 7 and £6000 was accepted about Whimbrel at the same price. Megaphone was supported for several thousands at 100 to 6,and 5000 to 200 was taken about Glenloth. Swordbearor wai heavily backed for the Darby lost night. The beat offer against him is now 8 to 1. (Received 9.40 p.m. Oot. 20th.) Vengeance has gone wrong and has been scratched for all engagements at the Victoria Racing Club meeting. Consequent on hia splendid gallop this morning Paris has advanced to the position of firßt favourite for the Melbourne Cup,aud 100 to 12 ia freely accepted about the aon 'of Grandmaster. Disquieting rumours are abroad concerning Malvolio, but ISO to 10 is still takeu. Whimbrel is hardening, nnd 100 to 8 is the best offer again at him.
