At a mass meeting of shearers held at ' Barcaldine Statioa a resolution waa ' passed declaring the strike ended. The chairman explaioed that the unions had [ been crushed out by the Government and , the squatters. He advisod the men to go . to work, and to insist on the Government finding employment for them. Many of j the unionists are bitter against their 3 leaders for misrepresenting tho state of , the funds. Some of, the men are m a 3 perfectly destitute condition.

Tbo unionist* b contend that if tha socioty is succetsfnlly r formed, it may lead other employers to form similar societies which they may compel their a men to join, f To-day a deputation consisting of fire 1 labour dolegates introduced the following s labour repreeenlstfves : — Messrs Pinkerton (m tho chair), Mnolntosh, Earnshaw, W. a Eflly, Fish, Joyce, Bees, and B. M. Smith. s The dalegates urged 4 that the Union Steam a Ship Company's mutual bonefif- eocisty was a a compulsorf one j that its evident intent was to break up the Seamen's Union and that i 6 P was detrimental to Friendly Soeiotios. After ■ some discussion s coramittee of four were . ttppoiuted m order to bring tho matter before the House and the GoTornment. The labour conference will hot commence * its sittings till Wednesday 'or Thursday as ; many of tho delegates have not yet arrived. >
