ACCIDENT TO THE PUKAKI.

(3V TKLEGUAi'H.) AUCKLAND, June 11. News was received this morning by the local agonts of the Union Steam Ship Company from Awanui, near North Capo, that tbe Company's s.e. Pukaki, bound from Auckland to Westport m ballast, bad lost her propeller off the North Capo aud waa drifting around thero under Bail. Tho first officer of the vcssol, Mr Carmichael, left tho Bteamer sixteen miles from tho North Capo with a boat's crow and landed at Parougaringo. Ho rode to Awanui, and telegraphed this morning to Auckland. The steumor Clansman loft Russell tOday m search, and the Staffs left Awanui on tho oamo errand. Tho PuUaki is rigged as a topsail Bchooner, and cannot aprcad much canvas. EUSSSLL, Juke 11. The Pukaki's propeller shaft ia brokon, and ebe has boon drifting about Binc3 Monday night. She arrived off .Russell Hoada and act Bignals of distress. Eventually nho had to mako the anchorage as no notice was taken of tho signals, tho acrvicua of tho signalman having been dispensed with. Tho Clansman towed hor into Knssoll, and then left for Auckland, leaving tho Pukaki thoro. Although Bignuls wero flying from tbo Pukaki for assiafcince, no notico was tukon of them at the Ru«aell signal station, through tho signalman having been dispensed with.
