A SUCCESSFUL DAIRY ASSOCIATION.
(Br Tele&eaph.) DUNEDIN, June 11. , At the annual meeting of tho Middle Island Dairy Association, a committee submitted a lengthy report of tho operations during tbo year. The Association shipped 626 tons 19 cwts of choeso, and 10i tons of butter, with satisfactory results. The full report of Mr Cox, sent ia charge oE the shipment by the Doric, has not yet been received. The Association have m viaw tho appointment of their own brokers m .England and Scotland, und aro watching the question as to whether London is to continue to bo tho place to whichproduco should be shipped. Mr;T. Brydone was re-eleoted president. The question of the heavy railage charges on dairy produce was discussed, and it was resolved to bring the matter before tho members of Parliament, as during tho past year the efforts of the Association with the Bailway Commissioners had proved unavailing. What was wanted was that cheese for ohipmnnfc m four ton lotß and ovor should be carried at grain rates. It was resolved that tho secretary be requested to ask tho Minister of Lands to place facilities m tho hands of the dairy factories to havo thoir milk analysed free of cost by the Government Analyst when roqnired. Tho members who wero present expressed their Bati3faction at tho work carried out already by the Association, and letters were received from several faotoriea wishing to join during the com\ng season. It was shown that the expenses on shipments of choose sent through the Association, includiog everything from the factory door until Bold m 'london, amounted to lid por pound. This includes cartage, railage, harbour dues, freight, dock charges, exchange, otamp3, discount to buyer, commission etc. The amount drawn as advanco against the shipment was 3id per lb and tho exchange as mentioned covers the whole. Taking off shrinkage, or net weight m London, it leaves 4'B3d net at the factory door.
