TENDERS FOR STONE.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE TIMAEU HERALD. Sic, —lf all public bodies iv New Zealand have the same idoas as the Lovels Eoad Board, no wonder there is an exodus of the working men from here. Tho Levels Boad Board call tenders to supply stone on North Boad. The lowest tender was 3s 6d per cube yard, including royalty. The board objected as it was too high a price. Thi3 was 6d per yard above the last contraot, the contractor for which had Buch a good job that at tho first, (draw) ho had to throw up tho contraot and clear out, leaving the workmon and his surety to got their money how thoy could. Porhaps the Boad Board wants boujo moro of this kind of work. I am, &c , S. H. Kimnr.
