Timaru Herald Office, Saturday evening. AUCTIONEERS' EEPOETS. Messrs Graoie, Maolaan and Co. report for the paßt fortnight, as follows :— HOESES. The South Canterbury annual sale of horses was held at Washdyke yards on the 30th May, when sellers were almost unanimous m deolaring that date a month too late. The salesmen, however, were not at fault, as they had applied for the use of the saleyards for the 24th April, but as the Saleyards Company considered that date was too early the application was not granted. We sold 32 head, and the prices realised were satisfactory. Draught yearling sold at £i to 10s, 3-year-olds .£l2 to ,£l6, mares and geldings medium quality .£lO to ,£lB 10s. inferior .£6 to £8, hackney oolta and fillies .£2 10s to .£9 10s. At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the 30th ! nit., 48 head were entered, 22 of which were Bold at quotations above. SHEEP. At Pleasant Point on Monday, there wa3 a large yarding and a remarkably good sale. We disposed of the whole of our entry as under : — 116 merino wethers at Bs, 25 fat ewe 3at 9s 7d, 42 cull ewes at ss, 200 lambs at 93 4d, 124 do at 9s 2d, 45 fat crossbred ewes at 8s lOd, 82 do do at 10s lOd, 54 coll lambs at 63 6d, 35 fat ewes at 83 9d, 30 do do at lls lid, 76 do do at 133 6d, 110 2-tooth halfbreds at 133 Bd, 234 do croasbreds at 133 6d, 52 wethers at 13s 9d, 38 aged ewes at 73. At Washdyke yards on the 28th May, we sold 375 merino ewes at 43 l^d, 58 fat crossbred ewes at 113 9d, 125 do do at 10s, 26 lambs at 93 9d. At Newmarket on Thursday, with a small entry, we sold 387 lambs at 9s 9d, 156 fat ewes at 10s 6d. Privately we sold 380 lambs and 414 merino ewea. CATTLE. There is but little business doing m either fat or stores ; m fact for the latter there is no demand. We sold at Washdyke, dry cows at 253 to 555, springers £3 103 to £i ss, steer 3at 25s to 42s 6d, and privately 15 prime fat bnllocks. PMS. Only a few offering ; baconers (large) sold at 403 to 423 6d, slip 37s 6d to 123 6d, SHEEPSKINS. At our regular sale on the 3rd inst., we catalogued and sold over 2000 skins. Competition was brisk and prices fully up to expectations. Bo3t cro33bred3 sold at 33 5d to 53, a line of extra heavy at 63, aeoond quality 23 to 33. Merinos (best) sold at 3s to 4a, two small lines (eztra) at oa, medium Is 6d to 2s 9d, light at 6d to Is. Privately we havo placed 3029 factory skins at fall rates. Mr E. E. Guinness, for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company (Limited), reports for the week ended Saturday, June 6th, as follows : — SHEEP. Entries throughout the district, considering the time of year, have been fairly (food, and business m this class of stock extensive. For-ward-conditioned cros3breds fit for turnips, hogget 3 and sound merino and crossbred owes m lamb are most m request. CATTLE. The demand for prime beef is slightly better and prices are inclined to advance. Store3 — There 13 a limited enqniry for very forward steers for turnips, bnt old cow 3 and yoßcg cattle are almost unsaleable. OERAIDINE TABDS. At the above market m conjunction, with Mr A. E. Cox, good entries have coma forward and very satisfactory business resulted. TEMOKA TABDS. At this fixture there has been, a good yarding of sheep, cattle, and pigs. Our sales iiv conjunction with Mr A. E. Cox, consisted of aome prime lot 3, which bronght satisfactory prices, viz., 2-tooth cros3breds at 15s to 15s Id, others at 13s 6d. PLEASANT POINT. A fairly good entry of sheep with a good demand, resulting m a clearance being effected. Best butchers' croasbreda at 4s Cd, 4a 9d, to ss, second quality at 3s 6d, 33 9d, 4s, to 4s 3d, best merinos at 3s fid to 4s, second quality at 2s 9d to 33 3d, country skins according to size and condition, factory skins at 43 4d, 4s 6d, 4s Od, to 43 lOd. Wool — Locks at 2£d to 2Jd, mixod fleeces at 6d to 6Jd, crossbred at 6£d to 7d, trimmings at 2Jd to 3^d. HIDES Aro m fair demand, and wo have disposed of all on hand at tho following prices, at our stores, Timaru :—3slbs to 501bs at lid, Sllba to 591bs at 2id, OOlba to 651b3 at 3. J (d, 601bH and over at 4d, cat and damaged lid, calf skins at 34d ppr lb. KAT. Wo havo disposed of all on hand at late quotations. PKOPEIITY AND CLEARINO SALE. Wo havo disposed of Mr John Stone's farm at Gloniti to Mr John Grigg, and cordially wish the now owner evory success. Wo also held a salo o£ tho live and dead stock, furniture, etc., on tho 24th nit.
