A conspiracy has been discovered, involving thousands of students of all the Russian universities, aiming at peaceful reform of the absolutist system of Government, with a view of substituting a system of national liberty and religious equality. VIOLENT THUNDERSTORM. Vienna, June 6. A violent thunderstorm has been experienced here, during which ttvelve persons and many animals were killed. The crops sustained great damage as well a3 fruit trees. THE LONDON CENSUS. London, June 6. The census for London and its suburbs shows the population to be 5,633,000. THE REV. MR BERRY. The Rev. Mr Berry, of Wolverhampton, intends to visit New Zealand for the benefit of his health, and leaves almost immediately. THE QUEENSLAND LOAN. Since the tenders closed for the Queensland loan only £300 has been subscribed, and it i 8 now rumoured that tha Bank of England is trying to arrange with a syndicate to take up the balance of the loan on favourable terms. THE RATE OF DISCO ONT. At a meeting of bankers, it was resolved that at present it is not imperative to fix a minimum rate of discount,though it is expedient to continue with the Bank of England m dealing with the matter. The Times considers that some difficulty will be experienced m satisfactorily settling the question. IMPORTS AND EXPORTS. During the month the imports increased by £1,037,000, while the exports decreased £3,196,000. THE CHIEF RABBI. The Rev.
