In the House laat night Sir Henry Parkes Baid ho proposed to proceed with the Bill for the abolition of plural voting before dealing with the Federation question. On hearing thia statement the Opposition accused Sir Henry of attempting to shelve the Federation proposals, and several members of the Opposition who supported him on the latter question declared that they were disgusted with him because of his action. The feeling in political circles is that tho fate of the Ministry is sealed. THE ROTOMAHANA. Melbourne, May 28. Sailed— Rotoraahana for the Bluff. POSTAL RATES. Mr J. G.Duft'y, Postmaster-General, has decided that it is undesirable to establish a penny post for Victoria. It is stated that New Zealand favours au intercolonial penny postage, though the statement lacks official confirmation. A QUESTION OF PRECEDENCE. The Admiralty upholds Rear-Admiral Lord Charles Scott's contention that under the title of " His Excellency " he takes precedence of the Governors of Australian colonies except the Governor of the colony in which he happens to be. PRIME MINISTER.* Adelaide, May 28. Tlie Executive have decided that the head of the Government shall in future be known as the Prime Minister. This is the result of a decision arrived at at the conference of Premiers of the respective :olonies held in Sydney during the sitting jf the Federal Convention. SILVER MINING . (Received 730 p.m., May 28th.) Sydney, May 28. The following are the current quotaions for the principal silver-mining ihares : — Broken Hill Proprietary, £10 LBa ; British, £2 17s Gd ; Central, £5 L9a ; South, £5 19a ; Block 14, £6 19*; Block 10, £14 15s ; Junction, £2 10s Cd. There has been an output of exceedngly rich ore at the Broken Hill Consols Hine, exceeding anything ever known n the past. Between last Saturday ifternoon and Monday morning, one ton >f solid native silver was unearthed, Chis is believed to be the richest field ever jnown.
