Horses from this stud have lately taken over 400 prizes and medals m Europe aud America. Orpheus is the true type of a Coaching Stallion, and ia m fact the best specimen to be seen m this hemisphere. He was bred by Edward Lubbon, and was foaled on the 21st April, 1886 ; is a very rich brown with black points, and stands 16 hands 31 inches high. He ib sired by Jago, by Agamemnon, by Jellachich (dam "by Zernebook), dam by Cleveland, by Young Duke of Cleveland, by Duke of Cleveland, by Magistrate (dam by Ocnqueror), Jago received m 1880 and 1881 two Government prizes. Agamemnon took, m 1869, one Government prize, and ia the sire of a great many prize winners. Cleveland won m 1879 a first prize at the Oldenburgh Exhibition. Young Duke of Cleveland won first and second Government prize. Duke of Cleveland took a first Government prize. Orpheus took first Prize Canterbury Show, 1889, aud first award Oamaru Show, 1889.
