(I?Y TEtKORAPH. ) GISBORNE, Jotib 14. A gentleman at ITokianga writes toafriend hero : — "My brother was a few days ago on a vaccination tour to Herekino, and roports a violent outbroak of loprosy among the natives, several of whom died from it. Others are m a fearful state, fingers and toes rotted off, nose, teeth, and jaws corroding ; bodies rotten. He has roported the matter to the Government. Strange to say it got this length before wo heard of it." The natives are scared and avoid eaoh other. Timoti Puhipi recommends tho lepers being departed to the Three Kings Island.
