SERIOUS FIRE IN DUNEDIN.
(By Teibsbapu.) DUNKDIN, Mat 13. The woodwjre factory, belonging to Meeers ■Findlay and Co , Limited, was" discovered to be on fire about 10 o'clock to night, by which time the flim» had obtained a good hold of the place. For nearly an hour the fire blazed furiously, illuminating brilliantly the railway station, tho shipping, and buiWing-i m the vicinity, but it w&s then got under. A considerable amount of damage was done, but its extent and tho insurances cannot yet be ascertained; Tbe gaol, which is situated exactly opposite tho scene of the fire, escaped, and perfect order was preserved among the prisoners. Lateb. £•' Findlay 'a building?, which covered half-an-acre, weie complotely destroyed, with the exception of a small portion recently erected. The estimated value of the atosk and machinery amounts to £23,003 Tho insurances amount Duly to £5000, and the loss must be between £15,000 and £20,000.
