THE PARNELL COMMISSION.
(Per Electric Telegraph — Coryßiaai.) (Special to Pkess Association.) (Received 12.15 p.m.. May 2oth.) London, May 23. In the course of his evidence before the jTiwics-Parnell Commission Mr O'Brien said that he regretted the attacks he had made on " Buckshot " Forster and Earl Sponcer, and he also regretted the tone of many of the articles m United Ireland. The conduct of the paper would now depend on any change m the condition of affairs. Mr Timothy D. O'Sullivan, M.P. for College Green, is now being examined before the Commission. (Received 1.20 a.m., May 25th.) liefore the Ti'mcs-Parnoll commission Mr O'Brien has admitted that he had denounced the six hundred Irißh gentlemeH for toasting Ihe Queen, to whom he had roferred as " an old lady who scarcely decently disguised her hatred of Ireland." The London pres3 was responsible for the dynamite policy by pandering to the love the people had for sensation. Be said that he had attacked the Prince of Wales on the occasion of his visit to Ireland because ho came to counteract Irish national sentiment, and also that he might persuade the English that the Irish feeliug was a bogus feeling. Ho would have advocated a rebellion m Ireland if he thought it ■would have been successful. Regarding the Manchester outrage of 18th September, 18G7, when Policeman Brett was killed m a forcible rescue of two Fenians, witness said that ho regarded the attempt at rescue asa petfectly honest warfare. Do did not believe Allan, Larkin, or Gould could be considered guilty of murder. He, for one, hold them m respect. This remark- was applauded by Parnoll aud Michael Davitt, who were sternly rebuked by Sir James Hamien, President of the Commission, who threatened to expel them from the precincts of the court. Continuing his evidence, O'Brien said that the resistance to evictions was more child's play. It was true that he had travelled with Patrick Ford, editor of the Irish World, when m America.
